Route of the Volcanoes

Enjoy a special volcanic lava route on the island of El Hierro, which will allow you to admire a unique landscape in the Canary Islands.

A path with a geological focus walking among the volcanic cones that gave birth to the lava flows that form Los Lajialesone of the natural landscapes most significant of the youngest island of the archipelago.

La Senda step by step

1. Home. Once we are at the meeting point, we will set off towards Los Lajiales, an area located in the low leeward area, in the southern vertex of the island, in the vicinity of the fishing village of La Restinga.

2. Walk through volcanic lava. We will find ourselves in a unique landscape where we will be able to make out perfectly the almost intact morphology of the Lajiales herreños, which conserve an aspect very similar to the one they had when the lava cooled.

Los Lajiales is a recent malpaís, dating back approximately 6,000 years, and has not suffered much erosion since then.

3. Learn about history. While we enjoy an unknown trail, our guide will tell us everything we need to know about this island, the youngest in the Canary archipelago.

4. Capture the moment. We can stop to rest and take some photos to immortalise the moment. We will then return to Valverde, our meeting point, and the activity will come to an end.
