Excursion to Isla de Lobos in Fuerteventura: a unique experience in a natural paradise
If you are looking for a experience An unforgettable excursion to the island of Lobos is the best option. This small volcanic island, located to the north of Fuerteventura, is a true protected paradise, barely 4.5 square kilometres in size. Its name comes from the monk seals, known as "sea lions", which inhabited the area until the last century.
The adventure begins in the port of Corralejo, from where a ferry will take us to the islet in a journey of approximately 15 minutes. During the trip, the crystal clear waters and panoramic views of the coastline will make the journey an experience in itself.
Upon arrival, we can book our lunch at the only restaurant on the island of Lobos before starting our route. One of the first places to visit is La Calera or La Concha beach, a natural bay with turquoise waters and golden sand. In addition, here you will find an important archaeological site from Roman times, testimony to its historical past.
Following the trail, we will ascend to the top of the La Caldera volcanoThe 127-metre high lighthouse offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the neighbouring islands. Afterwards, the route will take us to the Martiño lighthouse, one of the oldest in the Canary Islands, surrounded by a spectacular volcanic landscape.
The route continues along the eastern part of the islet, where we will find Las Lagunitas, an ecosystem of great ecological value with salt marshes and native vegetation. Finally, we will arrive at El Puertito, a charming settlement of old fishermen with natural pools perfect for a refreshing swim.
To round it all off, we will enjoy a delicious paella with sea views before returning by ferry to Fuerteventura. An excursion to Lobos Island is a unique opportunity to connect with nature and discover a magical corner of the Canary Islands.
