Route through Laurel Forest on La Palma - Cubo de la Galga

On this tour you can admire the forest of Laurisilva of the island of La Palma, known as the Green Island. for its main resources such as nature and vegetation.

The Laurisilva Forest, whose origins date back to the Tertiary Period. (more than 20 million years ago), it has undergone very little evolutionary change over the years and will leave you speechless as time seems to have stood still.

As you start the walk, you will notice that the path is located in a ravine, covered with a thousand-year-old evergreen forest, with mist from the Trade Winds that characterise this area, humidity, temperature and pleasant shadows.

You will have the opportunity to meet a living relic, it will be like going back in time and walk in the plant formations that covered much of Europe during the Tertiary Period..

Legend inside the Laurisilva Forest on La Palma

All along the way you will be accompanied by a legend. The story goes that a beautiful young woman, overwhelmed by the shepherd's insistence on getting her heart, wanted to test his love by asking him for the impossible and thus free herself.

The young woman asked him that before she became his wife, she should approach the cliff. and, resting his hands on his spear, he would go over the abyss three times with his body without falling.

The shepherd On the last jump, lacking strength, he plunged into the ravine. Dying like this,  to win the young woman's love.

She lost her mind and did not stop crying until the last days of her life. Since then, the local people call the cliff El Salto del Enamorado (The Fall of the Lover).
