We echo the words of the newspaper El D\u00eda to announce the award received \"For good practices in tourism sustainability\":<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tenerife Tourism<\/strong> recognised on 05\/12\/2018 institutions, companies and citizens for their commitment to the sustainability of the tourism sector. <\/p>\n

This year, 31 projects were submitted to the competitions, 17 to the competition aimed at citizens and another 14 to the one for companies and administrations.<\/p>\n

The president of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, emphasised during the event that \"the identity<\/strong>the quality<\/strong> and the sustainability<\/strong> are key elements in tourism activity and this is the model we want and are developing in Tenerife\".<\/p>\n

For his part, the vice-president and island councillor for Tourism, Alberto Bernab\u00e9, praised the efforts of the award winners \"who have in common their conviction for sustainability\". <\/p>\n

Bernab\u00e9 pointed out that tourists consume many more natural resources than residents because of their own holiday behaviour \"and it is necessary to infect them with the idea that this island is a fragile ecosystem that must be cared for\".<\/p>\n

\u2013 Un Buenavista del Norte's socio-economic and sustainable development plan<\/strong>The project focuses on how to play golf while minimising the carbon footprint and is promoted by the company Golf del Sur.<\/p>\n

\u2013 El Green I love you Green project<\/strong>The company Altalay 7, which seeks to imbue all its corporate actions with respect for the territory and the environment in its Vallemar and Nivaria hotels.<\/p>\n

- A marketing platform<\/strong> specialising in unique experiences for responsible travellers presented by Senda Ecoway <\/p>\n

These three projects were awarded prizes - in the different categories - of the Good Practices in Sustainable Tourism Competition<\/strong>aimed at businesses and local administrations.<\/p>\n

As for the competition \"For good practices in sustainable tourism\", aimed at the local population, the winner was the project entitled \"Recovery of the windmill and creation of the gofio interpretation centre\". <\/p>\n

The idea, which is being developed in La Laguna, focuses on the renewable energies<\/strong>, create five jobs<\/strong>, recover abandoned land, contribute to sustaining biodiversity and promote the consumption of \"zero kilometre\" products.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

The finalist in this category was Remo Tenerife, a proposal whose aim is to promote and develop this nautical activity on the island.<\/p>\n

The event also served to recognise the approximately 200 volunteers who participated in the thirty or so actions promoted by the Cabildo. <\/p>\n

All this through Tenerife Tourism, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals agreed by the international community and with the Tenerife Tourism Strategy, which includes ten cross-cutting axes, one of which is dedicated exclusively to sustainability.<\/p>\n

We discard ideas because they deviate from our motto and, despite this, and with a lot of effort on the part of our team, we have managed to create an extensive catalogue of <\/strong>unique experiences<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>which continues to grow. <\/p>\n

In the conception of these we have been committed from the beginning not only to make you enjoy like nobody else, but also to do it with the maximum respect for the environment. <\/p>\n

Unique experiences because they are different, original, because they combine the best in a single product designed for you.<\/p>\n

We move forward because we believe and we believe because we move forward. We are driven by a blind faith in what we do and the knowledge that sustainable tourism is possible.<\/p>\n

Our thanks to all those customers who, like you, have believed in us and to the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz for the award of the certificate Empresas + Sostenibles, of which we feel enormously proud.<\/p>\n

We would also like to congratulate the 17 other initiatives that, like us, have received their certificate.<\/p>\n
